About Jack
Jack Hicks is a tenor and native of New Jersey studying with Elliot Madore at the Curtis Institute of Music. In the fall of 2026, Jack will make his Curtis Opera debut as Sam Polk in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah.
In the 2025-26 season, Jack sang the role of Anthony in Sweeney Todd at the University of Cincinnati CCM. He debuts at Wolf Trap Opera as a Studio Artist, singing the role of Monsieur Triquet in Eugene Onegin and covering the role of Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola.
A graduate of The Juilliard School, he studied with William Burden. Jack served as an Ear Training Teaching Fellow, working with graduate students in classroom and tutorial settings alongside Juilliard Chair of Music Theory, Dr. Kyle Blaha.
At Juilliard, Jack sang The Prologue in The Turn of the Screw while covering Peter Quint, and covered Le Chevalier de la Force in Les Dialogues des Carmélites. He also sang the roles of Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro.
Jack served as an ambassador to the Sibelius Academy in an historic collaboration between the two conservatories celebrating the American and Finnish songbooks. Jack was chosen by Brian Zeger to perform in Juilliard Songfest, which Zeger coached and curated. He also performed in NYFOS @ Juilliard: Ned Rorem at 100 alongside Steven Blier. At the second annual Pride Songbook, Jack performed the world premiere of Joseph Rubinstein’s Queer Encounters.
Upon graduating, Jack received the Joseph Polisi Prize, given to students who embody the school’s “artist as citizen” philosophy.
In the summer of 2025, Jack was a Studio Artist at Opera Maine where he sang the role of Yale Freshman in Gregory Spears’ Paul’s Case and covered the role of Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd.
Jack won 2nd prize in the 2024 Shirley Rabb Winston Vocal Competition and was a winner of the 2023 Schmidt Vocal Arts Undergraduate Competition Lower Division.
In addition to singing, Jack has studied piano with Alice Firgau and orchestral conducting with Jeffrey Milarsky.
When Jack is not making music, he loves cooking, going on walks, and solving crossword puzzles!
